Description
Heavy rains fell on much of the southeast and raised the water levels considerably around Chattanooga. The TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) opened all the floodgates on the dam which caused lots of turbulence and roaring rapids below it. The massive flow of water was something to behold. Chickamauga Dam is just east of downtown Chattanooga at the river's confluence with North Chickamauga Creek. The reservoir stretches for 59 miles (95 km) from Chickamauga Dam to the base of Watts Bar Dam, and includes parts of Hamilton, Bradley, McMinn, Polk, Rhea, and Meigs counties.
