The great American eclipse of 2017 was something to behold. I made a trip up from Chattanooga to the mountains of east Tennessee in order to see the totality. This is my favorite photo from the series of images I took because it captures the darkness of the sky, the blast of radiation in a solar flare and the rare moment the eclipse forms the diamond ring.
